Our trip to Canterbury Cathedral
Music man came in, from the Music for Schools Foundation, to show the children different instruments and gave some the opportunity to play one. He played different tunes on his trumpet and explained how to use the mouth pieces to make a sound. He showed lots of different sounds. The children were amazed. He used words of pipes, valves and vibrations. He will be offering lessons so look out for a letter being sent home. Term 1 – Vikings
Our topic this term is Vicious Vikings. We started the term with a fantastic Viking day where we investigated what Vikings ate by making and dissecting Viking poo!! We will be finding out about how and why the Vikings invaded, what happened once they arrived, looking at Viking weapons and thinking about the what happened at the end of the Vikings reign.
In English we will be researching the Viking Gods and Goddesses and creating an information text detailing their magical powers, wonderful weapons and amazing animal companions. Then we will be creating our own myth about one of these fascinating Gods
This term we will start by investigating place value and recapping numbers up to 1,000,000. We will be learning to order number, round numbers and thinking about negative numbers and Roman numerals
We will have one session of dance and one session of invasion games each week so please make sure your child has a full PE kit every day.
Children will be investigating what it means to be loving and Holy and thinking about what God means to them.
We will be investigating forces and thinking about gravity, air resistance and water resistance and how they affect us in every day life. We will plan and carry out investigations related to some of these forces.
