My child wants to register for taking the Kent Test, how do I do that and when?

When is the test take and when do we get the results?
The tests are taken on Thursday 6th September 2018. If you have registered online and provided a valid e-mail address, you will receive your child’s assessment decision in October 2018.
My child is already in school, we are moving and I’m looking for a place at Kennington CA Academy
If you are looking for a place for your child during the academic year you need to apply by completing a In-Year Admission form. If you are offered a place at Kennington CE Academy you will be asked to fill in a school admissions form and information:

When do I apply for a place?
Applications for children due to start primary and junior school in September 2018 closed on 15 January 2018. More information on when and how to apply for a place at school for children starting Year 3 in September 2018 will displayed here.
You can apply for up to 3 schools, putting them in order of preference. It’s in your best interests to list 3 schools. Naming only one school does not guarantee your child a place at that school or give your child priority for a place over another child, neither does naming a school more than once.

When do I hear if my child has a place at school?
KCC (Kent County Council) will process applications between 15 January and 15 April 2018.
If you applied online they will have emailed you on 16 April 2018 to tell you which school you have been offered.
You can also log in to your account from 5pm on 16 April 2018 to view your offer.
If you applied by post they will have sent your offer by first class post on 16 April 2018.

My child is due to start Secondary school. How and when do I apply?
If your child is due to start secondary school in September 2018, applications have now closed.

When can I expect to hear which secondary school my child has been offered a place at?
If you apply online KCC (Kent County Council) will email you on 1 March 2018 after 4.00pm to tell you which school you have been offered. They cannot guarantee the exact time you will receive your email, this will depend on your email service provider.
You can also log in after 5.00pm on 1 March 2018 to view your offer online. If you need to reset your password you must use the email address you registered with.
If you apply by post they will send your offer by first class post on 1 March 2018.

Admission Arrangements 2018/19
Children are admitted to the school at the start of the Term 1 without regard to ability or aptitude. Such children will attain the age of 8 years between 1 September and 31 August. In the event of over-subscription, the Governors will allocate places to children according to the following criteria: 1. Children in Local Authority Care: A child under the age of 18 years for whom the local authority provides accommodation by agreement with their parents/carers (Section 22 of the Children Act 1989) or who is the subject of a care order under Part IV of the Act. This applies equally to children who immediately are being looked after by the local authority became subject to an adoption, residence or special guardianship order. (As defined by Section 46 of the Adoption and Children Act 2002 or Section 8 or 14A of the Children Act 1989).
- Current attendance at our linked school: This is Downs View Infant School
- Current Family Association: A brother or sister who will be in the school at the time of entry. In this context, brother or sister means children who live as brother or sister in the same house, including natural brothers or sisters, adopted siblings, step-brother or sister or foster brother or sister.
- Health and Special Access Reasons: Medical, health, social and special access reasons will be applied in accordance with the school’s legal obligations, in particular those under the Equality Act 2010. Priority will be given to those children whose mental or physical impairment means they have a demonstrable and significant need to attend a particular school. Equally this priority will apply to children whose parents’/guardians’ physical or mental health or social needs mean that they have a demonstrable and significant need to attend a particular school. Such claims will need to be supported by written evidence from a suitably qualified medical or other practitioner who can demonstrate a special connection between these needs and the particular school.
- Nearness of children’s homes to school: We use the distance between the child’s permanent home address and the school, measured in a straight line using Ordnance Survey address point data. Distances are measured from a point defined as within the child’s home to a point defined as within the school as specified by Ordnance Survey. The same address point on the school site is used for everybody.
Any parent whose child has been refused admission has the right of appeal against this decision.
